Government and public authority representatives will debate in ElementAIR, the conference organized by Green Report on the quality of air, the measures which Romania must enforce without delay in order to avoid the European Union’s penalties due to pollution.
Romania has been subject to an infringement procedure since 2013 and, in the absence of efficient decisions, faces the risk of being penalized with hundreds of thousands of euros per day. The European Commission is about to notify our case to the EU’s Court of Justice due to the fact that the population in cities such as Bucharest, Iasi, Brasov is continuously exposed to high levels of pollution.
In Romania, the manufacturing sector is one of the most harmful for the environment. According to the European Environmental Agency, our country ranks second, after Bulgaria, in top European states that pollute the most in relation to how much they produce.
